funds to private and non-profit entities
completing Department of Environmental
Quality-approved clean-ups at any of the 10
properties selected as pilot
"Brownfields."
Upon completion of the clean-up, the state
will issue the
participant a Community Reinvestment Rebate
equaling 70% of the clean-up costs
incurred, with a maximum rebate of $150,000

- WARNING! If your business ships
products to California, you may need to
comply with Prop 65 requirements.
Prop 65 requires businesses to label
products that contain any of 750 chemicals
identified by the State of California as
causing cancer or reproductive toxicity. A
list of the chemicals can be found at www.oehha.org/prop65.html.
Though the state has no permitting or
reporting requirements, lawsuits are being
filed against businesses who fail to
properly label products, most by citizen activists. Penalties
up
to $2,500 per product per day, plus legal
fees, have been assessed.
