Information on industry-specific and
occupation-specific licenses, permits, and regulations can be found by
doing a search of the Business Wizard. Idaho
does not issue a state business license nor does the state require
occupational licenses for every profession. To find out
if your specific business activity or occupation requires a license or is regulated in
some way, visit the Business Wizard. After
answering five questions, you will receive a customized checklist of
agencies to contact with links to their websites.
If you want to print a list of all the business
activities, professions, products and services currently listed in the
Business Wizard, click on the printer graphic to the right.
City and County Business Licenses: In addition to the
requirements listed in the
Business Wizard, your business may be regulated by city and/or county laws
specific to your business location. Contact your
local City or County Clerk or Recorder's office to find out if you need a
local business license or permits. To find contact information for
your city clerk's office click here: City
Clerks. To locate your county clerk
or recorder's office visit
http://www.idahovotes.gov/Clerk.htm and choose the appropriate county.
Alcoholic Beverage Licensing: See the
Business Assistance section of this site.
Taxes: Most businesses must
pay taxes, including city, county, state, and federal taxes. Visit
the taxes section of this site to learn more about
the taxes your business may be required to pay. You will also find a tax
calendar listing the dates payments are due.
We do our best to keep this site current
when the federal government, Idaho legislature, city councils, and county commissioners
add or change
licensing requirements. However, WE MAKE NO GUARANTEE THAT THE
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS SHOWN ON THIS SITE ARE COMPLETE.
If your business, profession, product, or
service is not listed in the Business Wizard, you can verify whether your business
is subject to licensing requirements by contacting your city or county clerk's office, your attorney, or your CPA. You may also ask us to research your
licensing requirements by clicking on the E-mail
Us button at the top of the page.
If you know of a licensing requirement that
is not listed or one that is listed but needs to be updated, please
